Penrith City Council is the largest local government child care service provider in New South Wales, with more than 40 child care facilities annually catering for 4,000 children.

About the role

We have exciting Casual opportunities for Child Care Assistants to join one of our not for profit Child Care Services that either exceed or meet national quality education standards.

Roles available may include, Long Day Care, Pre-School and Before and After School Care.

In these roles you will be able to support our dedicated educational leaders in coordinating activities and programs to create a stimulating learning environment for our developing children. Your exceptional communication and team work skills will enable you to efficiently interact with the children, parents and staff.

Your previous centre based experience would put you in good stead to implement the curriculum for children ranging from 0 to 12 years.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and work well in a diverse team environment.

To be successful in this role, you must be 18 years or over and have completed a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.

The criteria to be addressed in the application form is below:

Essential criteria

  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care 
  • Current First Aid Certificate including Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate
  • Valid NSW Working with Children Check

Commencing salary: $27.19 per hour, plus 25% casual loading, plus 10% Superannuation

A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.

This position has been identified as a Child-Related position under Child Protection laws in NSW. To be eligible to apply, you are required to provide Council with a valid Working with Children Check Number.

This position requires the worker to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 or to hold a medical contraindication certificate.

You may be required to undertake background checks, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. You will be required to undertake background checks, including a Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied.
