Federation Council has an exciting opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our Development team to deliver high-quality environment, compliance, regulatory and facilities services.

The Role

The Building Surveyor will undertake inspections and approvals for Construction Certificates and Complying development certificates, conduct investigations for regulatory action under the provisions of the relevant Acts, Codes, Standards and Policies. Ensure that buildings and building related activities comply with statutory and Council requirements as regards public safety, health and amenity.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will need to:

  • Hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in Building, Building Science, Building Surveying, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Hold minimum Accreditation as a Building Surveyor restricted with the Building professionals Board or working towards this level of accreditation,
  • A current and valid Class C Driver’s licence.
  • Hold or be eligible to acquire a NSW WorkCover General Construction Induction card.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, BCA, relevant Codes and Australian Standards as they relate to building compliance.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in seeking regulatory compliance with a broad range of unauthorised building work, uses and associated activities, within new and existing buildings.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government State Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment.  The salary will be within the range of $1,434.60 to $1,583.60 per week, depending on qualifications, experience and skills.  This is a Grade 21 in Federation Council’s Salary System.
