CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICER

The Shire of Mingenew is seeking an experienced Customer Service professional permanent to be the first point of contact for all customer enquiries and provide administrative support to the team. This position is now available as a permanent, full-time position (80 hours per fortnight with one RDO per month).

The Customer Service Officer position is an integral role, delivering a high level of quality customer service to the Shire’s internal and external customers, in accordance with the Shire’s Customer Service Charter. The Customer Service Officer will be responsible for responding to customer enquiries and providing Driver and Vehicle Licensing services, library services and providing general support within the Governance and Community team.

We offer above-award wages (negotiable), dependent on demonstrated skill level, qualifications and experience. The position also attracts a communications allowance and housing subsidy for those living local or staff accommodation may be offered if required.

Section Criteria

Essential

  • Previous customer service experience (more than 2 years in similar work environment)
  • Ability to time manage, problem solve and adapt to changing work demands
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

Desirable

  • Knowledge of local Shire and/or local government operations
  • Valid WA Driver’s Licence (C Class)

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

**APPRENTICE HORTICULTURALIST**

The Shire of Mingenew is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from active, self-motivated individuals who have a passion for gardening and the outdoors. This Apprenticeship program will offer you the opportunity to gain hands on experience assisting Council’s Parks and Gardens team to maintain and enhance recreation and sporting grounds, parks, gardens and other community assets.

The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and apply themselves to their studies. Tuition support and study leave is provided as part of the Apprenticeship.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Currently enrolled in or willing to participate in an Apprenticeship in Horticulture through a registered training provider
  • Enjoy nature and comfortable with outdoor work that includes working in varied weather conditions
  • Reasonable level of fitness, capable of manual labour and physical work
  • Good time management and problem solving skills
  • Completed a minimum of Year 10 at secondary school or equivalent
  • Ability to work positively, cooperatively and productively within a team environment

Desirable

  • WA White Card
  • Current and valid Driver’s Licence (“C” class minimum)

**CADET ENGINEER**

The Shire of Mingenew is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from active, self-motivated individuals who have a strong desire to pursue a career in Engineering. This Cadetship program will offer you the opportunity to gain hands on experience assisting Council’s Works team to build and maintain the Shire’s infrastructure and assets. Council offers a professional environment; modern technology and mentoring opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and apply themselves to their studies. Tuition support and paid study leave is provided as part of the cadetship.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering discipline degree at university
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office programs e.g. Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Current and valid Driver’s Licence (“C” class minimum)

Desirable

  • WA White Card

The Shire of Mingenew is looking to establish a Casual Pool of appropriately skilled and experienced individuals that can provide resourcing support to the Shire, as required. The Pool aims to ensure the Shire can respond appropriately to temporary increased service demands, coverage for staff absences or any other temporary staffing needs.

Ideally candidates will be locally-based in order to respond to short-notice needs and must an Australian Citizen or be permitted to work in Australia.
